It was a mixed day of sunshine and showers, but the weather just added to the character of the fantastic day which was the Arrowfield and Hough End Community Action Group’s Fun Day this Saturday.
Well over a hundred local residents had a great time on the Arrowfield Estate enjoying a range of attractions, activities and stalls in blazing sunshine and torrential showers.
The big attraction was the 20 ft climbing wall which saw plenty of action thanks to the area’s youngsters who had a head for heights. There was a bouncy castle and face painting, the Cadbury’s Spots vs Stripes sports activities and a host of prizes and surprises on various stalls provided by Wates and Bramalls.
Residents could find out more about planned improvements to the area courtesy of information stands presented by Metrolink and Southways/Urban Vision… and one of the most popular stands was Elaine’s healthy and economical cooking demonstrations. She can perform miracles with a wok and a few simple ingredients – a modern take on the feeding of the 5000!
For the most part, the sun shone on proceedings, but a couple of downpours saw the crowds diving for cover under the gazebos without dampening the good mood.
This is the second such Fun Day the Group has staged, and this one was even bigger and better than the last. Who knows what 2012’s will be like. See you there…?
