Community Fun Day on Saturday 29th May.
It might have been damp, but it didn’t stop those who came having a great time at the Arrowfield and Hough End Community Action Group’s Fun Day on Saturday 29th May.
It all kicked off at 11.30am on the Plover Terrace field on the Arrowfield estate. There were games, competitions and prizes, face painting, arts and crafts and circus skills. Star attraction was the huge climbing wall, which many of our younger friends found no challenge at all, despite the rain.
Many agencies had stalls providing information and freebies. These included Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council Youth Services, Sure Start and NHS Healthy Living Network.
The event was staged to mark Manchester Neighbours’ Day, and those who attended were asked to provide suggestions as to what they would like to see to improve the neighbourhood and make the area a better place to live. The drizzle didn’t prevent the day being a great success, and the Group would like to thank Manchester City Council and Southway Housing, in particular Steve Marsden and Tina Murphy for all their hard work and assistance in its organisation.
