The bad news: The sun didn’t shine. The good news: It didn’t rain! The great news: It didn’t matter one little bit! We all had a brilliant time anyway, at our Diamond Jubilee street party with a difference. The difference being that it was an off-road experience enjoyed by over 200 local residents on Jubilee bank holiday Tuesday.
We wanted to do something ‘typically British’ to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, so we hit upon the idea of a Fish & Chip Feast. Central to the day was the 150 portions of free fish and chips we provided for residents to enjoy – superbly catered for by Fish-a-licious on Maudleth Road West.
But it wasn’t just about the food. There was fun and fitness too. There was fun to be had at a range of stalls in the form of face painting, games and activities provided by Southway Housing, Henry Boot and Bramalls. And for the fitness freaks, there were two bouncy castles and a series of hilarious sack races, for the under 8s, over 8s, mums and dads.
Thanks to everyone who came and who helped out on the day, making this our biggest and most successful event yet, and we think everyone went away with some fantastic memories of an already memorable weekend.
Here are some photos of the day. See if you can spot yourself!
